G. Scott Calcutt grew up on his family’s seed farm at Lemberg, Sask. While growing up on the farm he was taught to think things through and as needed be willing to work long hours in order to finish a job on time and in the proper manner.
As a Financial Planner Scott likes to work with new and/or existing clients who want to continue to learn and understand what options they have as they work towards achieving the goals and objectives they have set out for themselves. In terms of the Financial Planning process Scott offers multiple options and areas of specialization. He offers Fee for Service work (Fee Billing is done through Independent Financial Planning Services Ltd.) for clients as well as specialized Comprehensive Tax Planning, Retirement, Pre-Retirement, Investment, Insurance, Estate, Divorce, Succession Planning, Sale of Businesses and Acquisition of Businesses by clients.
Scott started his financial planning career in 1990 with a firm called Yeager & Associates. This organization subsequently merged into Independent Financial Services Ltd./I.F.S. Securities Inc. in June 1995. In January of 2009 the firm changed its name to Independent Financial Services and the Mutual Fund Dealer changed to Investia Financial Services Inc. and these are the current firms worked with today. Over the years of planning for clients Scott has become very knowledgeable in the area of Life Insurance products and the many Estate and Investment Planning applications that they represent to and for clients.
As a Senior Associate with Independent Financial Services, Scott has attained his Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Chartered Financial Consultant (CH.F.C) and Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA) designations over the course of the past twenty-nine years.
Scott has a team of assistants that work with him on a day to day basis. They are all identified within the "your team" section of the Companies Web site - under Staff/Assistants section.
Scott has two children, Stephanie and Kristopher. In his spare time he has two main hobbies - golfing and fishing. From time to time over the years Scott has been asked to return and help out with the family farm. He participated from childhood until 2015 when his parents decided to exit farming. Currently Scott is a member of the Regina Capital Cosmopolitan Club which helps raise funds for two main causes (Local Diabetes Education and Fundraising for the Cosmopolitan Learning Centre - which helps adults with learning disabilities) along with a few other smaller charitable groups or causes. He also served as Vice President and President of the club and remains a current Director of the club. He has held the title of Chairman of fundraising events for the club on an ongoing basis over the course of the past 5 or so years.
